Essi is a London-based cinematographer with over a decade of experience in the film and television industry. Originally from Finland, she began her career as a camera assistant on features, TV series, commercials and music videos before fully transitioning to cinematography in 2019.
A graduate of the National Film and Television School (MA Cinematography, 2024), Essi brings a strong blend of technical expertise and creative vision to her work. Her background on set has shaped her collaborative approach, leading crews with empathy, respect and clear communication.
Essi’s recent projects include 'milk', a BAFTA-nominated short, and 'Truckload', which premiered at the 2025 Tribeca Festival and will screen at the Edinburgh International Film Festival. Her work spans narrative shorts and documentaries, often exploring emotionally complex stories through a visually distinctive lens.
Known for her intuitive storytelling, professionalism and adaptability, Essi thrives in creative partnerships and is drawn to projects that challenge her both artistically and technically.
